Dear All,

I would like to share with all of you what's coming up next for you in the Board eLearning

As all of you know, a few weeks ago Board 10.5 was launched, which is the very first full web Board version.

We have structured an eLearning catalogue based on Board 10.5 named the Web Experience. The eLearning will help you understand how the Web designer works and how you can easily convert Capsules from older versions. This material will help you get up to speed, and then go even faster with the new web version of Board.

We are also launching a catalogue of material related to Cloud Management. We've structured a step by step tutorial to explain to customers and partners  how the Cloud Activation process works, and some tips to get the most value from using the Cloud.

Those two catalogues will be available by the end of May.

Board 11 is now reality! We’re all excited about this, and we’re working hard to deliver the new Board 11 Product Tutorial, covering all the necessary knowledge to be proficient and effective in using Board 11.

The Tutorial will be ready by the end of Q3.

Hope it helps!

Stefano

Dear All,

we are pleased to announce that the first part of the Exercises environment is available!

Starting from now, you can find two different catalogues within the eLearning Platform (boardeducation), that cover the basic part of the Exercise environment.

These two catalogues have been created in combination with the BOARD Product Tutorial, in particular the courses Database Modelling and Capsule Design.

By doing the Database Modelling Catalogue, you will have the opportunity to familiarize with the main features related to the Database Creation. By doing the exercises you will be driven through all the steps necessary to create a new BOARD Database.

By doing the Capsule Design Catalogue, you will be supported, in a driven manner, in the creation of you first BI Application.

Each course is organized into three different parts.

Firstly (1), you should look at the BOARD Exercises_General Information tutorial, which explains how to do the exercises. After this, you can download the Exercises List (2), plus the Required Documents, and try to solve the exercises on your own. If you are not able to do them, or you wish to look at the recommended solution, you can look at the Video Solutions (3).

If you have any question about eLearning please let me know, I'll be glad to give you more information!

Kind regards,

Stefano

This catalogue is designed for people who are completely new to BOARD and are interested in understanding how to create a BOARD Database.

Each exercise is logically linked to a specific section of the BOARD Product Tutorial. In the exercise text you can find the reference to the related TTA within the Tutorial, helping you to switch easily from theory to practice.

The exercises are designed to be self-sustainable; every exercise has a video solution that the Learner can use to check if the solution they found is correct.

The available exercises are as followed:

  • Database Creation (DB01)
  • Modify Time Range (DB02)
  • Entity Creation (DB03)
  • Entity Setup (DB04)
  • Configuring Max Item Number (DB05)

Dear all,

regarding the question Exercises available?

I would like to give you some insights of what you can expect from the new exercises tutorial, that will be available soon!

The step by step tutorial will be structured as a business scenario, with different exercises to be solved in sequence.

The aim of this new tutorial will be to understand how BOARD works in a very practical way, strengthening the link between technical and business context.

The exercises will be structured with an increasing level of difficulty, and will be linked together. The next exercise could be approached only once the former one has been completed.

Each exercise will be provided with a specific learning path, helping the trainee to catch all the needed knowledge before approaching the exercises.

If you have any question about e-Learning please let me know, I'll be glad to give you more information!

Kind regards,

Stefano

What's the best way to structure your learning path?

We have identified some paths tailored upon some Job Role samples, here there are some suggestions for BOARD Users.

  1. Depending if you are a Win or Web Client User start from the related tutorial in the User’s Experience Catalog. Next it’s important to understand how to interact with data (regardless the Client you’re using) .
  2. Whilst you are doing this take some time to understand the Security model.
  3. Even if you not assigned to BOARD development tasks, understanding the data-model bricks will be a big assistance in your self-service analysis and help you articulate any requests you may have for enhancements to your BOARD developers.
  4. Next, focus on export & print, the edit layout possibilities and finally the benefit of the MS Excel add-in. If you are a Power User knowing the Capsule Paradigm is a must to watch.
  5. Gradually extend your knowledge to the entire Capsule Object Parade.

What's the best way to structure your learning path?

We have identified some paths tailored upon some Job Role samples, here there are some suggestions for BOARD Administrators.

  1. Start from the first two Tutorials of the Administration Catalogue.

When your Board Client is up and running, download some samples  from the Resources section (Wiki) of this Community and walk through the Application Screens.
  2. This will help to clarifies the perception users have of the Board platform.

  3. Even if you don’t necessary develop it’s extremely useful for you to have an understanding of the bricks and foundations of the BOARD Database. Explore its Catalog, narrow your exploration to those videos you believe are the “must watch”.
  4. Next, it’s important to understand the Capsule Paradigm.
  5. Now you have all the elements to tackle the “Load the Data” topic. This will drive you across different TTAs and Crumbs spread in different catalog.

  6. At this point go back  to the Administration Catalog. Here you should complete the Admin tutorial first and then navigate through the optimization tutorials. This will help you to talk with developers and troubleshoot.

What's the best way to structure your learning path?

We have identified some paths tailored upon some Job Role samples, here there are some suggestions for BOARD newbie Developers.

  1. Start from the first two Tutorials of the Administration Catalog.

When your BOARD Client is up and running, download some samples from the Resources section (Wiki) of this Community and walk through the Application Screens.
  2. While doing this enjoy the TTAs of the User Experience Catalog. Navigate the data at your fingertips and familiarize with the Workspace.

  3. It’s time to move on to the Database Modelling Catalogue. Narrow your search to those “must watch” videos. Do and re-do a couple of times, alternating tutorials and simple exercises.

Before digging into the Business Cases have a look at the first tutorials of the Capsule Design.
  4. It’s likely at this stage you will come to realize BOARD development life is much more advanced and interesting than expected. Don’t expect to understand everything, diversions on unexplored TTA are likely to happen in most of the Business Cases.
  5. Now you have the foundations to watch the Capsule Design video-set. A full immersion is not mandatory however, leave the “Data-Entry” for the next round: it’s a different challenge and you make take some time to get the Capsule paradigm first.
  6. When you believe are ready (or need) explore the Data-Entry tutorials. They are very connected with the Procedure tutorials so you will be “naturally” driven to have a look at them too. Focus on the Data-Flow tutorial and leave the others for later.
  7. Doing some practicing at this stage is mandatory.

Finally complete your knowledge with the other Admin tutorials (Security’s is mandatory). Optimization Tutorial are interesting as well, but leave them after some training on the Job.
