Troubleshooting: Installation of BOARD Client in Auto Update mode - fails

When trying to update the BOARD Client enabling the BOARD Autoupdate option, you get one of the 2 following error messages “Cannot move decompressed client” or “Cannot extract the downloaded file”.


This might be due to the "autoupdater" failing to install.

You might get errors like "Cannot move decompressed client".




Resolution 1:

  1. Disable your virus scanner or make sure that it is not blocking BOARD Update process.
  2. Delete all *.zip files in folder “%AppData%\Board International\Board 7.0\Autoupdate2\Clients” and if existing the folder with the version you try to install (i.g.
  3. Delete file updater_config.xml in folder “%AppData%\Board International\Board 7.0”.
  4. Start BOARD Client again and retry the Auto Update Process.

Resolution 2:

You have defined Winrar, 7zip or another software for opening *.zip files. Change it to standard Windows Explorer and do steps 1 – 4 from resolution 1.

Resolution 3:

You do not have enough privileges to your AppData folder. You can check this easily if you open the path “%AppData&\Board International\Board 7.0\” and try to create i.g. a text file.

If you can’t, you have to contact your administrator.
