About the Solution/Project:

About the solution

As an experiment, I wanted to explore how BOARD connects to web services. My challenge here was to design a simple solution where I could get the 10 day forecast for two cities. It was easier than I thought. Once I articulated by query for the Yahoo data, the rest was just connecting the dots. I also have a video walkthrough of the solution to showcase how it all links together.

This was done as an experiment. This is not meant to be production-ready code. If you have any questions or improvements, please comment so we can all learn together. If you can think of other experiments to try, comment and maybe I'll do those as a followup post.

Takeaways/ Hints for other community Members:

  • Loading data from a web services may take a few tries, but it's doable
  • Since we cannot pass parameters to datareaders, we need to have queries that work on their own, without passing anything
