Hello,
I would like to display the annual averages for several years per block and year.
How can I do that?

greetings
Marco

    Hi @Marco Kuemmel,

did you have a look at the time functionalities in the block definition?

This will help you take your first steps. Additionally, I'd recommend our next "Tips & Tricks Tuesdays" Webinar series about the Average Functionality using Dataflows (taking place today at 16:00 CET).

    Hello,
Thanks for the answer. I've tried all possible combinations. Unfortunately without success. Can you describe a specific way for me?

    Thank you

    Hi Marco,

Of course, I could guide you along. But, first of all--, I'd need to know precisely what you would like to achieve. Can you describe that please with some screenshots and/or XLS examples? How did you build up your DataView so far? What challenges do you encounter?

    Kind Regards,
    Helmut

    Hi Marco,

Would this be a case of wanting to display a monthly average by year?  So you would have years on the columns and another entity on the rows and you wanted to show the monthly average for that particular year?  You can use the divide by option to divide the value by a certain number.

I'll cover this on the next Tips & Tricks session (today!) which is on averages.  Sign up here: community.board.com/events/calendar

If you have any further questions, then please let me know.

    Thanks
    Ash

    Hi Ash,

Would this be a case of wanting to display a monthly average by year?
    That's right.
Divide by 12 is not correct.
In some lines there are not 12 values.
There has to be a better solution.

    Thanks
    Marco

    Hi Marco,

since your screenshots show only part of the picture I could only assume some things. Below is an example I've build.

    image

Is this what you had in mind?
If yes, it can be achieved with the following definitions in the data block:

imageThe average is calculated by using this constellation:

    I hope, this helps.

    Hi Helmut,

    Thanks for the answer.
I have monthly data for the years 2018 to 2021 and would like to determine the average per year.
    Is that possible?

    Marco

    Hi Marco,

yes, that's possible. My example was built for one year only--but, that can be adopted.
It'll take a little to adopt, but I'll get back to you.

    Hi @Marco Kuemmel,

    here you go:

    image

This was achieved by the same analytical function as above but each block refers to another year.

    image

For example, the last block is defined with a "Refer to" 2019:

    image

This is static. If you want to make the reference dynamically you'd need a procedure to set the block reference accordingly.

    Kind Regards,
    Helmut
