BEST PRATICES

Hi everyone,
I wanted to put a question regarding the best practice that we follow with regard to masters (e.g., store master) or transaction files (e.g., sales file).
E.g.,
1) The date format for date code is YYYY for year, YYYYMM for year-month) & YYYYMMDD (year-month-day).
2) There should not be any breakage in linear hierarchy (i.e., blanks in the hierarchy).
Suppose the hierarchy is: Area Manager (AM), Regional Manager (RM), National Manager (NM)
Don't: AM: XYZ, RM: blank, NM: ABC
Do: Depends on organizational approach. E.g., AM name can be repeated in RM. AM = XYZ, RM = XYZ, NM=ABC
Do: Depends on organizational approach. E.g., AM name can be repeated in RM. AM = XYZ, RM = XYZ, NM=ABC
If someone maintains the list of dos and don'ts for the master files as best practices, it would be great if you could share with us.
Thanks!
