pattern based allocation - how it works?

I'm searching for a description (Doku, Video...) for the function "pattern based allocation".

How must it be configured?

I hope someone can give me some help.

Using the pattern based allocation allows the user to use split and split with the underlying allocation of another cube.

Imagine that you have an empty cube which you want to fill without using dataflows or datareader. In that case, you can activate pattern based allocation and choose a reference cube which has already data on the relevant combinations. This allocation will be taken to allow you enter data on an empty cube on upper level!
