Connection Board to Azure fabric - cloud SQL DB

Hi

We have Board on Azure cloud supported by Board. We are moving from our old ERP solution to MS Dynamics 365. The data will be moved from Dynamics to the MS data model and to Azure Fabric – cloud. Are there any others that have made the connection from Board to Azure Fabric? We are struggling to get the connection to work. I seems like Board needs a user and password from Fabric, but Fabric can’t make a user and password. Are the any other ways to make the connection?

Hi Jan,

The connection to Microsoft Fabric from Board can be configured using the custom JDBC driver from within the Datapipeline. Authentication to Microsoft Fabric is handled via a service principal. Accessing Azure services through a service principal is a widely adopted and recommended approach for enabling secure, automated interactions from external client applications.

You would need the following details to establish the connection

Driver class is com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver

Connection URL is jdbc:sqlserver://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.datawarehouse.fabric.microsoft.com:1433;database=xxxxxx;encrypt=true;loginTimeout=30;Authentication=ActiveDirectoryServicePrincipal;AADSecurePrincipalId=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx;AADSecurePrincipalSecret=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

where AADSecurePrincipalId is the Application (client) ID

and AADSecurePrincipalSecret is the Client Secret
