Level 200, B14 216: I have 2 questions from build dashboard.

Question

1. Profit Margin & Percent of Sales Not Displaying as Expected
"Despite following all the recommended steps and using the same calculation logic as shown in various tutorials, my Profit Margin and Percent of Sales values are not displaying as expected. Other measures in the report are calculating correctly. Could someone please help me understand what might be causing these two metrics to behave differently?"

2. Understanding Gauge Visual Scale (0–20M)
"In the gauge visuals for Sales GBP and Sales LC, the scale appears to be set from 0 to 20M. Could someone explain how this range is determined? For example, is 20M treated as 100% of the gauge value, and what logic or configuration in Power BI defines this maximum boundary? I just want to understand how the gauge visual decides its minimum and maximum values."

@Nial Thanks for your response, i understood how gauge works.

But for the 2 KPI which is not showing expected results - I tried several times from starting but same result not able to get why it is happening.....

I understand that even after following the recommended steps, these two metrics are not behaving as expected while the rest of the report works correctly.

As you have successfully completed Lesson 215 and cleared the related questions correctly, this indicates that the setup up to that point is fine. The issue is most likely related to Lesson 216. I would suggest going through Lesson 216 again from the beginning, step by step, and carefully checking whether any step might have been missed or configured differently.

For your second question: In Power BI, the gauge range is defined by the Minimum and Maximum settings of the visual. These values can be handled in two ways:

Automatic: Power BI automatically calculates the minimum and maximum based on the underlying data or related measures. In this case, the 20M you see is automatically chosen by Power BI as the upper bound.

Manual: You can explicitly set the Minimum and Maximum values yourself in the gauge visual settings. When you do this, the maximum value you define is treated as 100 percent of the gauge.

So yes, if the maximum is set to 20M (either automatically or manually), the gauge treats 20M as the full-scale value. You can change this behaviour by manually configuring the minimum and maximum values, as shown below.
