Enabling Dataset download to a file for User

Question

Hey Everyone,

Has anyone ever enabled a user to download a dataset to their system/PC?

They are on a cloud instance of Board, and the data is coming from one specific cube, but the extract procedure places it in the shared drive, and I can't use the extract from data view because the cube has too many entities.

Would appreciate any clues or support on how to make this happen.

Hi Adwait, the best solution to that is normally to do the extract to file, and to then upload that file into a BLOB cube so that the user can then download it to their PC.

Hi,

The alternative would be to use a Flexgrid object which can handle normally the same complexity as an export dataset to disk, even if there are volume limits.

If you reach those limits (which are much higher than a dataview's), then the result is probably not exploitable by an end user anyway.
