Cloning at Training Environment

Hello, I’d like to ask whether it is possible to clone a data model and capsule across different user training environments.

The main goal is to ensure that conditions are consistent between User 1 and other participants during each training session. This would help us standardize the environment and avoid discrepancies in the learning experience.

Is there a recommended approach or best practice for achieving this?

Option 1 — Clone Using the Admin Portal (Manual Backup + Import)

This is the simplest way to copy the current environment into a training one:

✅ Steps

1. Create a Backup from the Database
   • Procedure to create a Backup of your DataModel
   • Save the backup file somewhere accessible (e.g., Z-Drive).
2. Download the Backup in the Admin Portal
   • From the Admin Portal, use the File Manager section to download/upload the backup into your training environment.
3. Export Capsules Separately
   • Open the Capsule Manager.
   • Download each Capsule (screen/app content) you need.
   • Upload those Capsules into your training environment manually.

📌 This method gives you a full data model backup and separate Capsule export—useful for one-off environment copies.

Option 2 — Clone Using ALM (Transporter Packages)

Use ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) to move models and Capsules between environments in a controlled way.

✅ What it Does

• ALM allows you to snapshot and transport Data Models and Capsules from one environment to another (e.g., from Dev → Training).

🧠 Typical Process

1. Take Snapshots
   • Create a Data Model snapshot and a Capsule snapshot in the source environment.
2. Build a Transporter Package
   • Use the snapshots to generate a Transporter package that contains all changes to move.
3. Download & Upload
   • Download the package locally.
   • Upload the package into the training environment and execute it.

👉 ALM handles both structure (models) and Capsule content consistently, and can be automated with CLI tools.
