Show the Last Month's value even when there's a 12-month screen selection

Hello,

Is there any way other than Refer to to get the last month's value when there's a 12-month screen selection active?

Example: Jan 2026 to Dec 2026 is active on the screen selection and we want the value for Dec 2026 only for some visuals.

We need the 12-month selection for the trend line graphs but we also need the last month's value for other visuals.

I tried using Analytical function Last Value but it's getting only the non-zero last value. I would like to refrain from using Refer to because it impacts performance when you are adding them to a lot of datablocks using a procedure.

Hi Efraim,

You might be able to achieve this using the filtering or sorting options. If the month is also on the axis, create a block from the Month entity (display code) and sort by it in descending order with TOP 1.

Or you can use an algorithm to filter by month. Place the Month entity on the axis and as a block, then use an algorithm with if(right(b,2)=12,1,0). Then filter the layout on this block with Minimum Value = 1. This also works dynamically if a cube contains the month number. Then use if(right(b,2)=c,1,0), where c contains the month number.

Thank you for your response! I understand this will work if we have the Month on the Axis or Category right?

I'm afraid the visuals that we need this fix doesn't have the Month on the Axis/Category. And if we add it, we can't remove the grouping symbol it adds on top.

We are hoping to have workaround or function that works like the Analytical Function Last Value which gets the true last month's value.

I think that could work. If we change the time selection, the bar's height could change and will it not change the grouping symbol's location as well?

The Grouping Symbol will always be at the same position.
