Since the release of Board 12.6, Board has continued to support the version while also introducing newer generations of the Board Platform. Board 15, the most recent release at the time of publication, represents a significant step forward in the continued evolution of Board technology—offering an enhanced user experience, improvements in performance and flexibility, and access to new AI and agentic capabilities, along with numerous additional enhancements.
Board 12 has now entered the final stage of its product lifecycle. This article outlines:
- The support timeline for Board 12 releases
- The assistance available during each lifecycle phase
- The recommended upgrade path
To retain full product support and access to maintenance releases, security improvements, and new functionality, customers should plan to upgrade to the latest supported Board release before the applicable deadline.
We recognize that an upgrade requires technical and operational planning, and Board teams and partners are available to help customers assess and prepare for the transition.
Support timeline
Version | Support phase until | Total end of Support phase |
|---|
Board 12.1–12.5 | January 1, 2027 | January 1, 2030 |
Board 12.6 | January 1, 2028 | January 1, 2031 |
Versions prior to Board 12 are already out of support. Customers using these releases should upgrade to a supported Board version as soon as possible.
Board 12.1–12.5 releases are already excluded from standard bug-fix backporting.
Support phases
Technical maintenance phase during transition period
During this phase, customers can continue to submit support cases and receive assistance with product-related questions.
Board Support provides:
- Support case intake
- Assistance with product-related questions
- Investigations and updates for confirmed security vulnerabilities
- Critical product fixes for confirmed security vulnerabilities and data-corruption issues
- Best-effort investigation of newly reported defects
- Best-effort delivery of other fixes, hotfixes, compatibility updates, and patches
Board Support does not guarantee:
- Resolution of newly reported defects
- Delivery of non-security fixes, hotfixes, compatibility updates, or patches
- A resolution or delivery timeframe for best-effort investigations or fixes
Board Support does not provide:
- Functional enhancements
- Planned maintenance releases
- New features
Board strongly recommends using this phase to assess your current implementation, plan and test the migration, and upgrade to the latest Board 15 release before the end of support phase begins.
End of support
Support ends on:
- January 1, 2027, for Board 12.1–12.5
- January 1, 2028, for Board 12.6
After the end-of-support date:
- Applications may continue to operate.
- Board no longer provides guaranteed product support, maintenance releases, functional enhancements, or bug fixes.
- Security investigations and fixes may remain available for confirmed security vulnerabilities.
- All other investigations, fixes, hotfixes, compatibility updates, and patch delivery may be considered only on a best-effort basis.
- Resolution and delivery timeframes are not guaranteed.
- Additional costs may apply to any assistance provided.
Continuing to use an unsupported version increases operational, security, compatibility, and maintenance risks. It also prevents customers from benefiting from the performance, usability, administration, analytics, and functional improvements introduced in newer Board releases.
Recommended action
To maintain full product support and reduce operational, security, and compatibility risks, customers should upgrade from Board 12 to the latest supported Board release as soon as possible—and no later than the applicable end of support date.
The latest Board 15 provides access to continued product support and ongoing improvements, including:
- Enhanced performance and flexibility
- An updated user experience
- Predictive analytics and scenario-planning capabilities
- Functional improvements across Data Modeling, Capsules, Screens, Office add-ins, and user administration
- AI and Agentic capabilities
Upgrading also provides an opportunity to review, optimize, and modernize your current Board implementation.
Customers should use the available support period to:
- Confirm their current Board version and applicable support deadline.
- Assess the compatibility and readiness of their environments and applications.
- Review the applicable upgrade documentation and release notes.
- Plan and test the upgrade.
- Contact their Board Account Manager, Customer Success Manager, or Consulting Partner when additional guidance is required.
