Question

Can I get assistance for any blueprint how to calculate for the following KPIs using Board data view layout? I have a flat file data source data reader created and loaded, with entities, and one cube (amounts). any general overview assistance is greatly appreciated:

* Contracts % of Revenue = Contracts / Revenue.
* Temporary Work % of Revenue = Temporary Work / Revenue.
* COGS % = (-Inventory - Materials) / Revenue.
* Staff Costs % = -(Wages + Social Contributions + Exceptional Payroll or Irregular Work) / Revenue.
* Gross Margin % = Gross Margin / Revenue.

Thanks for your question.

There are a few ways to calculate KPIs in Board, but given that all your data is held in one cube and this is for report display purposes, I would recommend using a Rule for better usability and consistency.

I am assuming your cube is loaded by an Account type entity containing the members such as Revenue, Contracts, Temporary Work, COGS, Staff Costs, etc. If that's the case, you can create additional members in that same Account entity for the calculated KPI lines you want to display, such as Contract %, COGS %, Staff Cost %, and so on.

You can then define the KPI calculations in a Rule, using the relevant account members as the basis for each formula. Once the Rule is configured, you would apply it to the cube block used in your report layout, and the KPI values will be calculated dynamically in the report.
