Change capsule database  doesn't work

Hello,

I want to duplicate my environment (capsule and database) so I copied and renamed the capsule and the database.
Then I opened my new capsule and changed the database to the new one. but it didn't work for me.

All screens still pointed to the old database and what I found strange is that some procedures are pointing to the new database whereas others are still pointing to the old one.

Did anybody had this problem before ?

Are there any workaround  ?

Any information you can provide me would be greaty appreciated

Best regards

  • Dear Ahmed Lattali,

sounds a little like your screens where set as Multidatabase Screens?

Can you check if the function is set to the screens still pointing to the old database?

If so, easiest way will be disabling the feature for each screen and another time change the database belonging to the capsule.

    Hope it helps

    regards

    Hi Alexander Kappes

    Thanks for your reply

Alll my screens are not set set to multidatabse, it must be something else that causes this problem.

Even if create a new screen the default database still the old one.

    Best regards

  • HI Ahmed Lattali,

    sounds even strange for me.

Please do another test with a new capsule.

Insert some Screens to the "old" database, save it and try to set it to the new.

When this is working please do another test, copying the screens from your origin capsule into a new one and try to change the database here.

    regards

    Hi  Alexander Meyer

    I tried what you suggested.

I created a new screen that refers to the default database (the old) then I did the change database functionality, unfortunately it didn't work, the screen is always pointing to the old database.

I also deleted all the screens of the capsule (a lot of screens) except the new screen that I created and changed the database, it also didn't work.

the capsule contains all the project, being not able to duplicate it and create a sandbox environment is very blocking for us

    Hi Ahmed Lattali,

really strange. At the moment I tried the same, with some of my capsules and it worked without any problem.

Just to be sure, we are doing the same.

My capsule was based to ECHO DB and I changed it to ECHO2 DB with the following steps.

    You have done the same?

For me it is working perfectly

Do you have some special configuration on your machine?

Did it work in the past?

    Thanks for some advice

    regards

Yes, I did the same steps as you.

The problem is in the capsule itself.

When I take another capsule and change the database, itworks fine.

Only the main capsule that has this problem

  • and what happens, when you copy some screens of your capsule into another capsule and try to do the switch?

    Does this work?

    Hi Alexander Kappes,

Sorry, the capsule that worked was referring to a completely different database.

    I have actually 2 databases:
D1 the database that I want to duplicate
    D2 another database

and let's say D3 is the copy of D1.

We have 4 capsules, three pointing to the same database (D1) and the change database (to D3) don't work for them.
The forth capsule refers to another database (D2) and this capsule works fine when I try to change it database to D3.

I created a complete new capsule that refers to D1 and I tried to change it to D3 but it didn't work.

    So

    D3 copy of D1
    D1 to D3 don't work
    D2 to D3 works fine

    Sorry for misleading you,

I hope I clarified my problem

    Thanks

  • Dear Ahmed Lattali,

I think there went something wrong.

Best case will be asking your support department for some further investigation.

The community isn´t the real place for such problems because it´s nothing general.

    regards

I will contact the support team for this.

I was hoping that I find someone in the community who has the same problem problem that's why I post it here.

    Hi Edgars Kancans,

Unfortunately, I didn't find any solution, what I did is getting a recent backup (two weeks old) of the capsule, then I did the change database.

    Hope it helps,

    Best regards,
