Migrating to new Server

Hi all

 

Looking to migrate from our 2008 server to a 2016 server. 

Currently on board 10 but have downloaded the latest board 11.2 server setup and 11.2 web. 

 

Is there a guide anywhere with the correct process to migrate from one server to a new server? 

Database backup, and all the files etc ?

    thanks for your request.

     

    I think you wouldn´t found any document describing the whole process.

     

    First of all you should perform a Backup of your old environment (Copy of BOARD Folder saves all needed BOARD Data).

     

    When this is sone you should check your old machine for "special" configurations used for BOARD, e.g. SSL certificate, special port for BOARD web API, ... and prepare this to the new environment.

     

     

    Afterwards you should install the drivers (ODBC) for all needed source systems to your new Machine with Win 2016.

     

    When you have done this, my personal suggestion is initially use the same BOARD Version to the new machine to see if the application is used.

     

    To get your licenses moved you have to uninstall all licenses from the old environment and move to the new one. (Chapter 4 on Board 10 Web Site will help you)

     

    When the application runs fine on the new environment you can start with the migration of BOARD 11.2, download and install the version.

     

    Initially please read the attached link for migrating the Database (https://community.board.com/message/5666?commentID=5666#comment-5666  )

     

    According your capsules, when you developed this und HTML5 Client in BOARD 10.5 or later everything should be done.

     

    When you used the Windows (FAT) Client for developing you also have to migrate the capsules to the new Capsule format.

    Thanks for that. 

     

    Is there anyway to have both servers running while i test and migrate it over?

    I installed and copied everything across and set up the board server configuration tool but when i try to start the service is states my licence cant run in 64bit mode. 

     

    I would rather not shut down access to my other server until i am 100% positive that this new server is working well and upgraded to 11.2

     

    What are your thoughts, is it a licence issue or have i missed something ?

    Dear Peter Ornelas,

     

    you recevied the full key by mail and tried to run with this?

     

    You can Check File Size, when your key has file size of 1.17 kb you try to run the half key, which isn´t possible, for that the error is correct.

     

    When the file size is 1.56kb you are running the full authorized key. For that case the issue can be due to machine configuration. You are running on Virtual machine? The machine has at least 2 CPUs?

     

    When you try to run with only one the issue is also mandatory.

     

    License Configuration in general (second engine for several weeks) should be discussed with your local sales manager.

    No just tried to copy all the files accross to the new server and set up as the old one is. 

    2cpu on both virtual servers. 

    Licence is 1.56KB

    ok, that is the problem.

     

    The Key File consists some Hardware Information, which isn´t matching for both machines.

     

    Like written initially you have to uninstall the licenses on the old machine and reinstall on the new one. Chapter 4 on help.board.com will explain how to do in detail.
