How to change position of markers in waterfall chart?
Hello,
using the waterfall chart I have a problem with the marker values. They are shown inside the bars and I do not know where to change them to be shown above the bar instead. Because if the bar is very small it is not possible to read the value in the bar, independently of the selected textsize.
Best regards,
Hannes Keller

Hi Hannes Keller,
I guess you are using WinClient. In HTML Client the markers are already above the bars.
For WinClient you can add a second waterfall chart above the first one.
Just copy your waterfall chart and set the color of your bars (default, total, grand total) to transparent but enable the option "Show Labels". You also need to adjust a few more settings at your second waterfall chart like set background to transparent, hide x and y axis and so on. At the first waterfall chart you have to disable this option.
Move the second waterfall chart right over the first one and you are now able to move it a bit higher like in this example:
(I moved the secound chart a bit to the right so you can see that there are two charts.)
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Johannes

Hello Hannes,
when using waterfall charts, I make sure that the values are shown by a separate block so that I can align it to a secondary axis.
Waterfall elements are shown by the block "Waterfall" and the values by the "Values" block:
Make sure to disable the autorange function for the secondary y-axis and to define an adequate range, so that all elements are displayed underneath the graphic elements and in one row.
I hope this approach might help you for your problem
Best regards,
Bettina

Hello Johannes,
thank you for your input. It seemed to work but still I have cut off values. That is my main problem.
Besides I dont know how to get rid of those lines in the backround.
Can you solve that as well?
If not, I tend to use the solution Bettina mentioned for now.
Best regards
Hannes

Hello Bettina,
thank you for your reply.
I accomplished to do it as you suggested and will probably use that solution for now. Even though a "simple" settings feature for that would be nice ;-).
Best regards
Hannes

Hi Hannes Keller,
I suggest to use Bettina Clausen solution if you got cut markers.
Just for the future: You can adjust the lines/stripes in the "Axes Configuration" (at the bottom):
Kind regards

Hi Bettina,
Could you possibly show a screenshot of your layout to show how you made the starting and ending points (black bars) show up in your waterfall?
Thanks
Eric

you can find an example (incl. cpsx + database + layout) here: Changing Colors of Bars in a Waterfall Chart.
Let me know if you need further help.
