Commentary Field?

Hi,
I have a layout where I have a SKU entity as my Row and Sales and Margin data cubes as my columns. Is there a way to add a "Comments" (as a column) field for each SKU where I can enter comments, and then each time I review this screen (or anyone that views this screen) can see the comments for each of the SKUs?

Hi Jon,

One approach you could take is to create a new text cube which is dimensioned by SKU and any other additional dimensions (such as time) that may be helpful.

Once the cube is created, you can add it into your layout, as you did your Sales and Margin Data.  By enabling data entry, users will be able to enter comments by the dimensions you set.

For example, I have a layout with net sales by product (and a selection of year on the screen).  To allow users to enter comments next to the next sales values by product, I can create a text cube by Product and Year:

I can then add this cube into my existing layout and enable data entry:

What do the comments look like if you're not at the lowest level product? For example, if you have a group of products that make up a Program, and you're summarizing by Program? Do the comments show up?

Do you mean if I had set up my comments cube to be dimensioned by that summarized level?
In the example I used above, the parent of Product is Product Group. 

If I set up my comment cube to be dimensioned by Product Group, I would be able to enter the comments at this parent level.
If I were to then display the same comment cube by the lower level Product, the comments that were set at the summarized level would show on each of the lower level lines:

What does the "Comments" column look like when you set up the Comments cube to be dimensioned at the lower level Product and then were summarizing at the Product Group level (and had different comments for each Product? Does it show blank at the aggregated Product Group level?
