Hell o!

I've seen the official changelog but I strongly disagree with the wording on the following change : "Dataview: improvements in column width management" as it clearly worsen my experience in column width management.

The culprit :

Resizing columns is a key part of making a dataview, which is one one the most used object and I've been using this changed interface for a couple of month on beta of 11.3 and was hopping it didn't get released since this interface is the worst UX ever.

It's a LOT MORE time consuming as you have to select the column you want in the list then input the value, then select the next column input it's value and so on. Before only had to just scroll once and use the tabulation key to go to the next column you wanted to input.

Also, you lost any overview of all your columns size to verify everything is correct. For example, you can't verify quickly that one every 3 blocks is a different size as its a percentage - which it happen very often.

Yes it bring the functionality to change all column at one but at a cost and the where other way to do the same without degrading the classics use cases.

Please revert this change : We need less click to do thing! Not more!

The fact that kind of change can be release makes me wonder if the UX team that design that kind of change actually use Board and if they get the feedback they need. And really worries me because the interface needs a lot of improvement to actually make project faster and not be just "all show" and it seems were heading the wrong way.

    Hello,

I completely agree with what Nicolas describes here.

Developing screens in the web version was already taking more time than the desktop client, and this kind of functionality doesn't help at all.

In addition, there are a lot of better ideas to develop from the community.
This kind of improvement worsens the experience of the developers in BOARD.

    Regards

    Hi guys,

I completely disagree, since the developer (and user) has the possibility to change column widths just the way you're used to in MS Excel:

You'll get that in B11.3 and don't need to "do a lot of clicks" anymore.
Try it and I'm looking forward to your answers.

    Kind Regards,
    Helmut

    Hi,

I think your missing my points especially about having a quick overview which added value compared to other tools on the market.

I would love to eyeball column size like your showing but I - and my customer too - like consistency and respecting UX charts through the whole application. Therefor It isn't a viable and reliable option.

By the way this is how I change size in Excel when I do a report in Jedox or Hyperion : multi-selecting columns then right click and finally "column size" in the menu :

If that was possible in Board, I wouldn't care as much for the new UX.
