How can I calculate a running total in Board? I want to see how our yearly sales are pacing against our yearly forecast.

Isn't that just the cumulative value?
add the same cube as 2 blocks on data view. On the second block, enable the time functions and choose yearly cumulative value. It should give what your are looking for
