Coming Soon: Board Academy and the “Foundations of Building in Board” Course

November is an exciting month here at Board as some great new offerings are on the horizon! We’re very excited to announce that on November 11th, 2022, we’re launching two all new offerings for you, our Board customers and partners:

• Board Academy
• “The Foundations of Building in Board” course

Read on to learn more about what to expect with each new offering.

Board Academy

Your new home for Board platform-based training will soon be found at the all-new Board Academy. The Board Academy training space offers our previously available Board-10 and Board-12 based trainings, as well as all our new courses, including the “Foundations of Building in Board” and future courses, already in development.

With this migration to the new learning experience, you can expect a seamless and intuitive learning journey along with new features, such as single sign on, automation between our training system and other platforms like the Board Community, and even certificates that can be connected to your LinkedIn account with just a single click!

For existing Board Academy learners the process is simple: we’ll send you a password reset email that allows you to quickly log in to the new Board Academy site. For those who do not yet have an account, we’ll ask you to register for a new account once you arrive at the Board Academy before you get access.

The “Foundations of Building in Board” Course

Also on November 11th, the Board Academy team, along with product experts from around the world, will release the “Foundations of Building in Board” course—the first interactive, multimedia training course on how to understand Board and to begin a journey of building confidently in Board.

You may register at launch to enroll in this brand-new training to learn the basics of Board and build along using our fictional Clarity Jewelers company. When you’re finished, you’ll earn a certificate of completion for your efforts that can be added to your LinkedIn profile in just one click. If you’re already a Board expert, show off your knowledge by jumping ahead to the final quiz to test out of our new eLearning course right away.

Single Sign On for Customers and Partners

Currently, we require you to have multiple login credentials to access our various online services, including the Board platform, Board Academy, Board Community, and Support Portal. Rather than requiring you to remember separate login credentials for each service, you’ll have a single identity via Single Sign On (SSO) with Board, once the multiple phases of the rollout are completed.

November 2022 Update: In the interest of providing you the best experience possible, this rollout will now happen in January 2023 alongside the launch of our new Community experience. Watch this space for details about SSO in the near future!

What's Next?

Right now, we’re performing final testing of the new training platforms with small groups and providing some early access opportunities to the new training courses. We’ll use that feedback to make our final updates before November 11th, and then migrate to the new platform.

What’s changing for me?
Board is reinvigorating our learning and communication platform where you can train with self-paced courses, beginning with the “Foundations of Building in Board.”

Why is Board changing its training direction?
Our oath to you, our customers and partners, is to empower you for Intelligent Planning so you actively drive your success. The comprehensive training to leverage Board quickly and painlessly, enables faster adoption—which means faster results for you.

What’s different about the training courses?
The courses have been designed with all new material, having replaced typical video lectures with interactive eLearning, using a simulated interface based on a fictionalized company’s data. Each learner will use actual data which has been loaded into Board for an imaginary company: Clarity Jewelers.

Why did Board create a fictional company, Clarity Jewelers, for its training—I don’t know anything about Jewelry?
For faster learning of how to use the Board software, learners will use and see how Board functions, without any risk to confidential data. Learners can use the simulated training and the data, with a common customer and product to work with. We picked the jewelry business because it exists everywhere around the world, it crosses all age groups, and it’s something that everyone has seen or owns. We think it’s a gem of an idea.

I already have an eLearning account with Board, how do I access the Board Academy?
We'll provide specific instructions for you closer to the launch of the Board Academy. Stay tuned!

What new courses are in the Board Academy?
The first course is what a college might call Board 101, or Intro to Board. The “Foundations of Building in Board” is an interactive course that presents the basic information a user needs to begin their journey of Intelligent Planning with Board. Learners will interact with the Board planning platform, with real data, no longer just watching videos of experts doing the work for you.

Do I have to pay for the eLearning courses on the Board Academy?
There isn’t any cost for the Board Academy self-guided eLearning courses.
