Improvement of layout configuration - structure defintion for rows and columns

Hello community,

in our reporting process we are usually - in a "standard data view setup" - using the "Key-Figure-Entity" that is displayed by row. The column structure is basically defined by the block definitions, no additional "by column" entities are used.

In this context the row structure is always very dynamic, showing all (key-figure-)values that are selected by the screen. To get these rows now a bit more structured we use additional selection- and sorting- cubes, even additonal text-cubes to show specific texts depending on the screen that is currently in use (text-cubes having the key-figure and sreen in its structure).

Anyway there is no possibility to set a "fixed" row structure in the layout configuration - you can always only drag&drop the "complete" entity. In addition we would also like to combine a "fixed" row with addtional selections (like a "refer to" in a block definiton) of other entitities.

The workaround now is if such a key figure is requested in a row of a sreen (e.g. revenues for a specific company code or passengers of a specific terminal), we create a new key figure for this selection using a complex data flow procedure within the data model.

Switching the block aligment to vertical is also no option since we use/need the block structure to show different value types, years, etc...

Overall we would really appreciate it, if you could think about adding the functionality to define a fixed row structure (and even a column structure) in addition to the block structure defintion within a data view layout.

Thanks in advance and best regards, Dominik Borchert

Thank you for sharing your idea, Dominik. We understand the need of this solution.

This idea is part of our development roadmap with the quick layout enhancements where you can define which entity should always be in row and so this ensures flexibility. This will simplify your need and is expected to release in 2024. We encourage you to continue submitting your ideas and suggestions in the future, as we are always open to hearing new perspectives and feedback.
