Excel Datareader

While I understand why CSV files can be more standardized and consistent for ETL processes, I think it's time to add Excel as an option for a datareader. A user can specify the filename, and tab name to be used for the datareader.

 

Use Case

  • An excel file is produced and placed on a network share
  • A user clicks a button to run the Excel datareader to load data from a particular tab into BOARD

 

Current Workaround

  • Open the file in Excel 
  • Save As...CSV file into a network folder
  • Open BOARD
  • Click a button to run a CSV datareader to load the data into BOARD

 

Data can still be imported into BOARD without too much effort. This would be a nice-to-have feature to streamline the import of external files.
