Direct Data Entry into a Cube in a DynaWrite

edited March 2020 in Idea Exchange

I can currently enter data into an RTF cube that is used in a DynaWrite Layout, but this is only possible if I set up a data entry enabled DataView with the RTF cube (see Add Narrative below):

I would like to be able to write my text directly into the data entry enabled cube in the DynaWrite (i.e. 'Project narrative', above).

Great news, this feature is available from the 2022 Spring release. You can read more here: https://www.boardmanual.com/2021/summer/whats-new-release-notes/2022-spring-release/main-features/data-entry-vertical.htm

    .Hi Monisha,

There seems to the wrong article linked in your post.

It is possible to do text entry directly into the cube through a DynaWrite object. For this, the data type of the cube must be set to ‘RTF’.

Of course you must be on cell-level selection on your screen and enable data entry to the cube.

There is another option to set the cube data type ‘Text’ Text Sub Group ‘Rich Text Format’, which gives the behavior described in the original post, where you need an auxiliary DataView cell to perform text entry.

There are a few more differences between the two data types. The Text - Rich Text one can be outlined in a DataView. When you are on cell level of the cube, you can return an overview of all comments throug a text algorithm block.

Whereas when using the RTF one in a DataView, it only shows if there is data on a given cell and you have the possibility to download the RTF-file.

Although I'm not sure since which board version the RTF data type is available.

    Kind regards

    Philipp
