Enhancement of Virtual Cubes

Initially Virtual Cubes are a fantastic feature of BOARD.

They are only acitve during the runtime of a procedure, you didn´t have to take care of old values, they don´t waste performance saving data to harddisk, …

If it would be possible using a Virtual Cube also for Selection Steps and IF Statements it would be fantastic for BOARD developers.

In many cases you want to calculate a subset of your database wher following steps should occur.

In praxis after this calculation you perform some Select Procedure Steps to limit the area of calculation or you decide according the result to switch to another procedure group using IF Statement.

Actually we have to do this using “normal” temporary Cubes which are just used for such because we can´t use virtual ones for selection or IF Statements.

I think developers are already taking into account a similar idea….the recent capabilities enhancements for temporary cubes in 12.5 documented here:

lead me to think that we're moving in the right direction.
