In this article we will discuss about some issues related to Board Office Add-in installation. The most frequent issues are:

  • The setup program office add-in fails.
  • Board Add-in Disappears and must be re-enabled every time 
  • The export feature is disabled. (gray icon)

The setup program office add-in fails

Issue:

The setup program doesn′t start and show a message "Office 2007 is not installed."

Solution:

This error mainly occurrs because the wrong Board Office Add-In installers has been used.

You need to check on your laptop if your local Microsoft Office installation has been performed at 32 or 64 bit.

It is not automatic to have Office 64 bit if your Windows is 64 bit – it depends from your specific laptop configuration.

You can easily check following these:

  1. Open an excel (also an empty one)
  2. Open the Windows Task Manager
  3. If your Windows is 64 bit, the 32-applications will have (32 bit) written – like in Microsoft OneDrive in the following image

  4. Choose the right Board Office Add-In Installer (in this example will be the x64 one).

Board Add-in Disappears and must be re-enabled every time

Issue:

On some installations, the Excel addin tab disappears in Excel when you close excel.  
You have to go to add-ins, manage COM add-in and add Board add-in every time you open Excel. 

Solution:

It's an issue due to the configuration of some registry key on the client machines. 
These are the two registry you need to edit and you need to set them to 3: 

  • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins 
  • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins 

Then, you will need to reboot the machine. 

The export feature is disabled in the Board Windows Client (Board 10)

Issue:

In the Board Windows Client (Board 10) the export feature is disabled even if a correct version of Office is installed.

Solution:

To enable the exports, search in the registry the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTExcelApplicationCurVer as shown below:

It can happen in case of existing installations, that this key is not correct. 

The current value of the key could be related to a different office version from the ones below:

Excel.Application.11 (office 2003)
Excel.Application.12 (office 2007)
Excel.Application.14 (office 2010)
Excel.Application.15 (office 2013)
Excel.Application.16 (office 2016)

Correct the register value with one of these to fix it:

Excel.Application.15 (office 2013)
Excel.Application.16 (office 2016)
