What is the best way to setup a demo database?
We would like to setup a demo copy of our database where we can demo to user groups but mask customer data. Is there a best practice way to achieve this?

Hi Ian,
You can create a Database Security profile and use the Cube visibility feature where you can set the access level of the cubes to "No Access". Users associated with this Cube access level will not have access to the data displayed in the Screen objects.
To know more about the Database Security and Cube Visibility sections you can go through them in the Board Manual:

When I do this we can't demo the functions of the data model. Essentially I'd like to just mask customer and rep names etc.
I tried creating a new model to copy data to and then load different descriptions, but the transporter package won't copy it as the original model was built before version 11.
Are there any other suggestions

Dear @Ian Bradley
with which version was built the database you want to start from?
in the past there was a dedicated tool, the "Board Randomizer" - but it worked only with Board 10. (open an idea and ask for it also in Board 12 and upcoming versions!)
Basically, with Board 12, your way of work is the right one: upload a different description.

We have decided to go with using the language functionality, using a language we don't currently use. That way we can use our production database and switch the language of the presenter. We're not showing standard board menu options only ones we've defined on the screens so this should work perfectly for our purposes.

Would be great if we could actually define our own language just for entities
