Hello,

Our controlling population would like to have an unique tool for reporting. So that they would like to import data from different sources not only for building budgets but also to exposing it in different reports, making multi-source reports, for example. Is this a good practice ? Don't we risk to have performances issues given the fact that they might want to see data down to the invoice level ? Drill-thru is not possible on our instance.

Thank you!

Catalina

Reporting down to a detailed level can be challenging, but recently implemented some transaction based cubes for a client that achieved this. Limiting the dimensionality, and either handling the reporting with hierarchical relationships or with combined entities is key. This does reduce the need for Drill Thru reporting, but Drill Thru can also be extremely powerful as well (but no ability to do broadcasting of Drill Thru which is why transaction based cubes are needed).
