Improve formatting capabilities for Unbalanced Hierarchies in Row Templates

We have an unbalanced hierarchy that comprises of four levels for which we would like to apply different formatting in data views at the individual levels. The hierarchy changes very frequently and contains thousands of members that are essentially managed by end users. As such, manual maintenance of a row template is not an option, and we are therefore looking for a method with which we could maintain a row template automatically. Any of the following would work for us:

(i) Apply formatting manually by hierarchy level
(ii) Apply formatting automatically by member, e.g. via a data reader-like approach
(iii) Apply formatting automatically based on the first two letters of the member code

Unfortunately, none of these options currently exist with row templates (see https://community.board.com/discussion/comment/18204 for details) which is why we raise this as an idea for a possible product enhancement.
