Data View text - not able to use Delete keyboard button

Hi, is there a reason why only the backspace of the keyboard to delete text a dataview with data entry enabled?

  • Hi Maik,

Just to confirm, you're referring to using the 'Delete' key which is typically found next to the 'Insert' key correct? On the data view object, would you know if the 'Differentiate zero and null' option is enabled?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Maik,

To follow up with what Zayaan's asking: are you asking because you'd rather use the Delete key? If the issue is that you want to delete text in a data view very quickly with fewer keystrokes, sometimes I also just copy a blank cell and then paste the blank cell to clear text without having to use backspace. Let me know if that helps!

  • Let's say you want to delete part of the text - you highlight it and usually press delete on your keyboard. how have that doesn't work. you need to use the backspace button. Thinking of word our excel it is naturally both. That is confusing for a user.

Or: In the below example the cursor us before "Crew" you cannot use the delete button

My question is more linked to user experience and habits.

  • Hi Maik,

Oh I see! Yes, I think that you're right that only backspace seems to work. I haven't heard anyone ask this one before, but I would recommend suggesting it in the Idea Exchange as something that the developers could work into a future fix.
