Today, we’re welcoming one of our newest Community Captains—Ankita Saha—as she shares her Board experiences and insights with the Community.

Ankita has over two years of hands-on experience with the Board platform, where she has honed her skills in data analytics, financial modeling, and strategic planning. Currently, she is deeply engaged in dynamic planning, budgeting, and forecasting projects in collaboration with renowned companies. Her passion lies in financial data analysis, and she thrives on dissecting complex financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.

Inspiration is all around us. Do you have a creative example of how you’ve used Board to to inspire others?

In my last project, I leveraged Board’s what-if simulation capabilities for financial forecasting and scenario planning. I created an interactive dashboard that allowed stakeholders to adjust variables like sales growth rates, inflation, and operational costs, viewing real-time impacts on profit margins.

This model helped leadership see the implications of different strategies and facilitated informed decision-making. By visualizing scenarios on the fly, the stakeholders could quickly adapt to changing business conditions and set realistic but ambitious targets.

As a hands-on practitioner of Board, what are some tips or tricks that you would recommend to maximize the Board experience?

Customize data views with advanced settings, such as data grouping, calculated fields, and conditional formatting. This enables users to analyze data comprehensively while maintaining clarity and focus.

Automate repetitive tasks, such as data loads, calculations, and report distributions in BOARD using procedures and schedulers. Procedures allow you to create a streamlined workflow that reduces manual steps, making processes faster and more efficient for users.

Advanced data security controls to ensure users see only what they need. This boosts security and performance, particularly for large datasets, by reducing unnecessary data loads and optimizing user-specific views.

There are many great features in Board. Do you have a favorite feature(s) that might benefit others?

The new BOARD 14 offers a wide range of visualization features which makes reporting and creating interactive dashboard easy.

One such feature is the “Responsive” screen object. It helps to arrange more than one screen object in an organized grid like structure. It enables the developer to customize the grid as per requirement and make a structured dashboard.

Another very useful feature is “Extract data view to file”. This feature is useful when customizing calculations. It helps to load desired results easily and quickly.

Lastly the “Interactive selection” is also very useful from a user perspective as it gives the user the freedom to perform certain calculations as per their own required selection.

Staying current on all things Board is important. How do you and you teams stay current on the latest updates?

Regularly attend Board webinars and User Community events: The Board platform often hosts webinars that highlight new features and best practices. I actively attend these sessions and encourage others to join or watch recordings.

Participate in the Board Community forums: The community forums are a great way to engage with other users and Board experts. By sharing insights or answering questions, I keep up with the latest tricks and hear directly from users on ways to leverage new capabilities.

Organize learning sessions for team members: In our organization, we often have training sessions in collaboration with BOARD to stay updated on new updates and functionalities.

Thank you, Ankita, for sharing these helpful insights as a Board Community Captain! How would you answer these questions? Help the Community improve by sharing your feedback in the comments below.
