The Board certification program is launching for customers on December 2, 2024. In the past year, over 800 partners have passed the Developer Certification exam, and 75% passed on the first attempt. Customers who are going to work as developers in their applications are invited to attempt Board Developer Certification Exam free (no cost until April 2025). This exam is not designed for administrators or end users, but there will be other certification opportunities for those roles in the future.

Anyone can register to take the exam using the same process as registering for a course on Academy. The recommended prerequisites are Level 100: Foundations of Building in Board, Level 200: Building a Planning Solution, and at least six months of Board development experience.

The legally-defensible exam consists of 65 multiple-choice questions, requires an 80% passing score, and is conducted during a 90-minute proctored session hosted on the Certiverse platform, a third-party organization. Each learner will need to register for an exam session via the registration process found in the Board Academy, just like course registration. Once the learner selects the registration button in Academy, they will automatically be routed to the Certiverse platform where they will log in, schedule, and take the exam.

Passing the exam will trigger an email to the learner that includes the Board Developer Certificate and instructions for adding the certificate to a LinkedIn profile. You will also earn a badge in your Board Community profile.

Exam failure requires a 48-hour waiting period before the second attempt. Learners will receive an email with some suggestions for further practice. Each learner has three attempts to pass the exam.

Accommodations are available, as needed, and anyone who needs accommodations for the exam should request the specific accommodations via an email to academy@board.com.
