Time Based Hierarchies

Publicly traded companies face the requirement of being able to report their historical data based on the hierarchy from that current time when asked to.

Currently in Board, there is no way to do this cleanly.

If we could create alternate hierarchies that dynamically link to the time tree instead of existing independently of the time, we could easily report what is required without muddying up the data model, or creating historical data model. Basically, we could store a 2024 hierarchy that would be referenced if the year is 2024.. etc. It would would cut down of dev time and maintenance for publicly traded companies. All publicly traded companies will run into this issue. I should also mention that OneStream has this capability.

This would also help with long term reporting. When the structure of a business changes, the historical data from before the change automatically gets shown via the current hierarchy. This makes sense, as you might want to compare actuals from your previous structure to plans of your new structure, but you cannot measure the how the changes to the structure of your business impact your numbers over time.
