My best holiday this year was a two-week tour of Nepal in the spring. Now in summer (which is unfortunately quite rainy), I'm leaning more towards a staycation with small but meaningful experiences such as theatre, readings, barbecues with neighbours and friends, and relaxation at the monastery.

My favorite summer getaway spot is anywhere with fine sandy beaches, hot temperatures and the soothing sound of ocean waves. There's nothing like disconnecting for a while, soaking up the sun, and letting the sea breeze clear your mind — before diving back into projects with a fresh perspective.

Vacation? what is that? 😀

I have had lots of projects (planned and unplanned) around the house. These have become my vacations. I don't mind doing the projects and it breaks up the monotony of a normal work week. The added bonus is that with all the money I have spent on these projects, I am earning enough points on my card to take a really nice vacation someday! Gotta look at the glass half full, right?

My ideal summer is one where it’s cool enough to avoid running the AC 24/7 😄. I love being in a place where I can relax, whether by a pool, lake/beach, or on a mountainside, yet still be close enough to a town for local culture and interaction. Cabo, Mexico was perfect this, with its mix of beaches, restaurants, and entertainment. Next on my list would be Marbella, Spain, for a similar experience with a Mediterranean touch.

I'm a big fan of 'points' vacations ✈️! Also, house projects - when completed - are the ultimate sense of accomplishment (and frustration, haha!).

I'd also be jealous of anyone who visited while I wasn't there yet. It's just great, we were lucky with the weather, lots of clear visibility—so we could almost always enjoy an extraordinary view of the Himalayas. The people are incredibly nice, the traffic is terrible ;-)

One thing you should definitely not miss is a sightseeing flight over the Himalayas.
