Why Version Matters: Board 10 → 12 → 14 → 15

Quick question: do you know which Board version your team is using today?

It may sound like a small technical detail, but it can make a big difference when looking for the right guidance.

A model can be working well, but the version it runs on can still affect things like user experience, performance, reporting flexibility, self-service options, governance, and which newer planning capabilities are available.

So here is the simple version.

Board 10 — The Legacy Planning Foundation

Board 10 built the core Board planning experience around multidimensional models, planning applications, and reporting.

Reliable and powerful, but usually more dependent on pre-built applications and technical development.

Board 12 — The Modernization Phase

Board 12 introduced modern collaboration, APIs, improved reporting, stronger integration capabilities, enhanced data entry, diagnostics, and cloud-era foundations.

This is where Board became more connected, collaborative, and enterprise-ready.

Board 14 — The Self-Service & Experience Revolution

Board 14 changed the user experience much more visibly, with a redesigned experience, Flex Grid, Dynamic Engine, improved performance, modern navigation, stronger scalability, and more planner self-service.

This is where Board became easier, faster, and more intuitive for more users.

Board 15 — The AI-Assisted Planning Platform

Board 15 introduces AI Agents, Datasets as a semantic layer, Operational Forecasting, enhanced Microsoft 365 integration, and governed AI-driven decision support.

This is where Board evolves from a planning platform into a more intelligent planning ecosystem.
