Waterfall Chart with text cube in X - Axis

Hi Everyone,

I need guidance on creating a dynamic day-level waterfall chart in Board.

I have a cube storing daily cash data by Day and Business Unit, along with two additional cubes storing major movement amounts and commentary at the same level.

The requirement is to dynamically display the movement commentary along with the corresponding variance amount and business Unit dimension, based on the selected Day.

Is there a recommended approach to dynamically generate the labels from cube-stored commentary?

Ah I see, realistically the only way you'd really be able to achieve that is by transferring the commentary to an entity somehow, but you'd probably need a pretty large entity to hold the different values. The only way to categorise it along the X axis like that is with an entity I'm afraid, so that would be your challenge.

Hi Sakshi, if I'm understanding your ask correctly you can achieve this by using the waterfall chart as a Master Object so that it drives the selection for the screen, you can then display the commentary in a label or a Dynawrite and set the layout to display the commentary for the selected date, if you see below I've done mine by month purely because that was the test model I had available, I've set the layout to only show commentary when a single month is selected, not when I haven't made a selection.

Thanks for your response. However, my requirement is slightly different.

In my scenario, I have a Commentary cube at Day and Business Unit (BU) level, where users will enter comments for the daily variances. I also have a separate Balance cube at Day and BU level, where users store the daily balances.

The waterfall chart should show the movement from the previous day's balance (Start) to the current day's balance (End), with the variance/movement shown at the BU level.

For example, the chart should display the BU along with its corresponding daily commentary on the X-axis, such as:

BU A – Paid taxes
BU B – Supplier payment
BU C – Customer receipt

The key requirement is that the commentary should dynamically change based on the selected/current day, while the comments remain stored at Day + BU level for the daily waterfall.

Could you please advise if this can be achieved.
