Export as Flattened in Windows Client - 10.6

I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue.  I am using Windows Client in 10.6 and if I use the procedure step Export as Flattened to Excel then the layout automatically removes the down total in the screen and exported file.

Hopefully I am doing something wrong and this is not a regression.  Any others having this issue?

  • Dear Jason Febo,

you are right, usingthe export to excel in flattened is deactivating the down totals inside the win client.

I think the behavior is an impact of the new export procedure steps released for the web development in 10.6.

More informations you can find here (paragraph "Export Functionality available from procedure" Board 10.6 Release Notes

By the way when you perform the manual export to excel in flattened mode inside the windows client everything works as expected and the layout isn´t changed.

    Hope it helps

  • Thanks Alexander Kappes.  Hopefully this can be fixed soon.

  • I have been told the following from support:

the behavior you describe is not a bug but a desired behavior (by design).
this happens because the export function in flatten mode has been designed to generate a file that will later be reused as a source for other systems

in this perspective, the total lines would generate a different data set than the initial value.

It doesn't make sense to me how this kind of change and limitation in functionality from previous versions could be introduced and that it is considered by design. This kind of design change should be better documented.
