ODBC & Bord mismatch

Hello everyone,

I have an issue connecting my Data Reader on a local Excel File.

There's a Server error "Database empty or unavailable" and looking in details, the error is like :

"Error IM014, message: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application"

After checking, it seems that the issue is between ODBC and Board.

I have an ODBC in 32bits, with Microsoft drivers updates, for Office 32bits (so I can't use ODBC 64bits).

Is there something configurable on Board to help me ?
Or anything else I can do ?

Thanks for your help,

Best regard,

JR

  • Hello Julien REBECA,

Board needs ODBC driver 64 bit, built as "DSN System": It is not possible to use ODBC 32 bit.

You can install the Microsoft Database Engine (choose the 64 bit version) and you will be able to create ODBC 64 bit even if you do not have Office installed.

Consider that usually the Board Server is installed on a server where probably you do not need to install MS Office: with the Engine, you will be able to create/use ODBC 64 bit.

The only MS Office limit is that you can not use OBDC 64 bit if you installed Office 32 bit, as you said.

    BUT.

When you buy a MS Office License, you can download and install also 64 bit version.

    So you can decide if:

    • install Board Server on a server where you do not have Office, and use the Database Engine to create ODBC
    • upgrade your Office to 64 bit version

Remember that if you're trying to upload a simple file just once, you can also use the Data Fast Track, as discussed in this thread.

    Hope this helps,

    ciao,

    Hello Federico Cazzalini,

Thanks for your precise answer, I firstly tried the Data Fast Track. The work is done !

Later I'll update to Office 64 bit.

Have a good day, and thanks again,
