    Hi dirk magerkord,

Yes, I've worked on FP&A solutions using BOARD for a number of clients now. Most folks start with automating the creation of their monthly financials, board books and presentations. Once that's freed up some time, they start building out dashboards for different areas of the business. I've seen some pretty big wins for FP&A using BOARD. Is there an area in particular you're concerned about?

  • Hi Bob Gill,

Thank you very much for your answer!

In short, I am looking for a meaningful approach to refine and optimize my own planning engine. After I (we have been using BOARD for about 18 months) first took care of sales topics and internal reporting, I would now like to deal more intensively with the topic of our internal finances and financial planning.

That's why I had the idea of being "inspired" by the fp&a approach. A consultant, whom I approached in December last year, informed me that the solution as a whole had more of a demo character and was not suitable for paractical use.

So, what you have written here reads to me as if FP&A is an approach that you should have a look at and try out.

Can you tell me where I can get the model for testing, or do you have further information about FP&A and/or the other pre-built applications?

Well, rather than these having a 'demo character', I would describe them as starter kits. They're not ready-off-the-shell modules, but rather design guidelines to be implemented within the context of your own chart of accounts, industry, business workflow and collaboration style. Here is a link to one of the recorded FP&A webinars on the BOARD site. After seeing this, it may give you a few ideas of which pieces are most valuable for you and your business. If you really want to play with the models, please reach out to your local BOARD sales person and they can give you a copy. As far as I know, we don't have a resource on the community for them just yet, but that's in the works.

If you'd like to chat more about details, I'd be happy to describe some of your options for you.

  • Hi Bob Gill,

I think I'll turn over to my consultant, get the model (if I can get it that easy) and just play around with it.
If I still have any questions, I'll be happy to get back to you!

It would be nice if such resources could also be found here in the forum! But that is, as you say, in the works ;-)

    Thanks again for your support!
