How to automatically show some details and summarize others?

Hello,

We are looking for a way to show activity in a dataview but with some of it in detail and the rest of it summarized. Similar to the effect of having an axis with the top value expanded and the bottom value collapsed. The decision could be controlled by an entity or a formula or comparison e.g. top 10% using a cumulated percent.

  • Is it possible to automatically expand the top axis item of a dataview and collapse the rest?

This differs from, say doing a top 200, in that it is essential that the dataview totals are complete.

Basically we want to see the important stuff based on some criteria and only know the subtotal of the rest. Ability to drill into the the subtotal would be useful.

Not sure if using an entity which classifies the data would always satisfy the requirement but it would be a place to start. A cumulated value percent kind of thing or cumulated count percent would be useful in some cases.

  • What is the best way to show details based on some criteria and a summary subtotal for everything else?

Thank you ... this question may be a duplicate (I'm sure others have wanted to do this) and it would be great if the answer is an existing feature that I just don't know about.

Thank you,

Pete
