Reverse algorithm cannot works with Date/Text Cube

Hello,

Does anyone know if the reverse algorithm can work with a date or text cube?
I'm trying but I can not make it work.

Note: We use Board 9.1.0

Thanks in advance.

  • Dear Miriam Alierta,

you are right in 9.1.0 reverse algorithm for Text and Date Cubes make Problems.

Good News on this, in the actual 10.3 release it is working fine. Means the issue is fixed in the meantime.

  • Thank you so much for your answer!

Justly at this month we'll migrate to version 10.3.

I'm looking forward for trying it!

Alexander Kappes, is there anything 'different' in how you need to apply Reverse Algorithms on Text cubes/algorithms?  I'm having trouble getting it to work in 10.3, and I'm using a pretty simple reverse algorithm, A = C.

The layout has C = if(B=1,A,0).  B is a mapping cube used to control which columns/entity members are shown, 'show all' on columns is unchecked. So if the mapping cube B = 0 for this entity member it does not show a column for it.  If mapping cube B = 1 then the column for the entity member will show, and so once a value is entered into the algorithm (block C) it just needs to be pushed back to block/cube A.

I've tried simplifying everything in the DV (eg. taking out the IF) and screen selections (selecting a single entity member) to try and get it to work but still no luck.  Any thoughts?

    Cheers

    Brendan

  • Dear Brendan Broughton,

    thanks for your request.

The reverse Algorithm is only working for "Numeric Algorithm". Text isn´t supported.

The target Cube used in the Reverse Algorithm can be text based but you can only save figures.

    Hope it helps

    Thanks Alexander Kappes

The information helps, but the fact it doesn't allow a text algorithm doesn't.  I'll start looking at the workaround.
