BOARD 10.3 - How are URLs within Text cells recognised when selected
I would like to understand how URLs can be used as links when they are loaded into a TEXT type infocube and displayed in WEB. I have such a cube as seen below but cannot get the urls to do anything other than sit very still.
The release notes state the following:
Fixes and Minor Changes
-
The Data Entry on the web has been greatly improved. Data typing and cell scrolling is much faster.
-
A malfunction that prevented the utilization of a the data entry in pattern based on mode in combination with algorithm has been solved. Additionally if the 'Save' is performed with a procedure the validation rule is not ignored any more.
-
If a text type cell, has some text that starts with 'http' or 'https' it is recognized like an URL and you can click on it (Web Client)
-
A malfunction that caused the failure of an ATO Page if any filter is in the Dataview Object has been removed
-
Even small Dataviews now show scroll-bars
Any help would be appreciated.

Dear Paul,
that feature is supported only on Drill Through and on the Web Client: this is why you were not able to turn it on on the dataview itself.
I hope it helps

Hi Davide,
Many thanks for your reply and outlining how URLs are handled through BOARD. It is a shame that common practice functionality of URLs is not yet possible for how I need to use them; another training step would be required if their use were to be implemented in our current production models.
I have a production work-a-round process which allows multiple URLs associated to a dimension to be used with a mouse click and without revealing unintelligible urls.
A full solution would have been to develop the ability to present a list of entities and 'jump' to a specific location when selecting one of them. As it is, the relevant entity member must first be pre-selected before using a dynamic url embedded object.
I will share this work-a-round as a video how-to soon as it may be useful to others.
Work-a-round solution
The image below shows how a user first selects (master layout) a lease reference and then opens an associated document via a URL to an external web storage location; in this case a LEVERTON Web server requiring additional login details.
We are doing the same with BOX integration. These integrations are what prompted the initial interest in using URLs. The BOX integration is taking things one step further to allow users read/write access to multiple desperate platforms via BOARD.

Paul Wyatt
