Community Website Bugs
Hello admin,
There appears to be a number of issues with the community site. Selecting individual members or trying to view the leaderboard results in a web error.
Is the website undergoing some maintenance or are there features which are no longer supported?
Will there be a formal notification to all community users of any issues with the website?
Kind regards,
Paul Wyatt

Hi Paul Wyatt - Avison Young UK & Malav Shelat,
Thank you for flagging this to us. Jive X platform, unfortunately, has been experiencing a number of technical issues lately. After being acquired by Lithium, we witnessed not just lack of development but inability to maintain the existing functionality. We are constantly in touch with the support team, but as soon as one ticket is closed, we need to open another one.
We are not ignoring these issues, though, and have started exploring our options. We want our customers and partners to stay active, communicate, earn points, share experiences and much more. Ensuring the community functionality is fit for purpose and serves our customers in the best way is our main priority. We are genuinely sorry for the bad experience with the community platform at the moment and we'll do our best to fix the issues with the support team as soon as possible. We have a couple of announcements coming down the line and we will speed things up even more, considering that Jive X issues are worsening.
As for the other points you've made, we always welcome feedback which now has been shared with Board product team and a member of that team will follow up shortly as well.
Kind regards,
Anastasia

Hello Paul Wyatt - Avison Young UK,
I agree with lots of bugs turning up, this is also a problem with new Board Software versions as well, since you are one of the Top members of the community and have more attention of the moderators i would like to address through you to the developers and stake holders that quality of software seems to be degrading as well. From Simple Grammatical mistakes on Software notifications like this:
To misplaced UI in different Layouts, To some really major issues like Crossview used for complex reports stops functioning suddenly with new release. It very tough for users to cope up with their bugs and design a new workaround and redo the tasks...
I wonder what has happened, is it a lost of interest due to growing competition and simpler & cost effective tools available ?
Hoping they resolve this issues soon...

Hi Malav Shelat
You raise an interesting point regarding a loss of interest. Aside of the community website issues, the user experience of BOARD from a developer perspective is becoming tedious where once it was fresh and exciting. The user interface, overall style choices, feel of the models and lack of expected functionality are also having a negative impact on the opinions of clients and their belief that BOARD is the right solution.
The website issues on their own would be ok if they were in isolation. However, they are now mirroring the problems with those of the product. For all the great strengths of BOARD (Data Entry, Nexel, ETL) the product appears to be losing its focus, along with the lack of maintenance on the community website.
The quality and non-compatability issues are compounding other issues which are either out-performed by rival software or vital functions which do not follow established best practice modelling for intuitive use, such as:
- Map Object. The map object which does not have any ability to carry out proximity analysis like tableau; with v10.6 it also now has bugs like the need to show the lat and long just to plot points, which then show also in the ugly, non-formattable, information pop-out.
- Bullet Chart. The terribly executed bullet chart. Ironically, this data visualisation was specifically conceived for efficient dashboard data visualisations and is exceptional in Power-BI and easily created in Excel.
- GUI. Confusing, un-intuitive and misleading graghical user interface decisions like:
- PRESENTATIONS which are in actual fact custom reports and screens that users can use to default their own setting in.
- Document Creation (PDF) Should be a simple and intuitive process to create executive level reports with user comments and storable configurations.
- ICONS. The iconography was never great but the use of an eye icon to indicate entity selections on or off is an example where BOARD appear to be introducing a new approach to interaction in place of a more established on/off or tick indicator.
- NEXEL crossview calculations that do not work in the upgraded capsule. Considering that nexel is used to conveniently replace complex SQL processes and that the calculations are directly used in the core function of analysis, this issue in itself raises questions regarding the BOARD process for testing and releasing features and upgrades.
Issues, like those above, may be as a result of releasing versions and features too early in order to meet deadlines, a lack of communication/control between the company and the programmers or an error in concept and design direction. The impact of these issues is that I'm beginning to enjoy rival products more as they now prove to deliver on client expectations by doing precisely what I want, easily and with great control and fidelity from start to finish. Complimenting the rival software, community websites are established, populated with technical experts, as with the BOARD Community, polished and professional in feel and execution.
Regards,
Paul

Hello Anastasia,
Many thanks for taking the time to respond and for explaining the technical issues currently being dealt with regarding the website. Perhaps a BOARD notice to all community users would help in keeping BOARD developers aware of issues and cultivate support from them.
Thank you also for your comments regarding feedback. My aim in mentioning several points was to demonstrate that there are now a growing number of issues (a trend?) compounding to make the BOARD experience currently less enjoyable than it was.
As I'm sure you will know, each of the points I have outlined in my post has either been formally submitted as ideas or are current topics of discussion on the community website and I suspect the product team are already well aware of them. On that note, I would welcome any opportunity to be involved in any follow up action.
Kind regards to you Anastasia,
Paul

Hello Anastasia Politiuk ,
Thanks for reaching out, however even if we bare with Community website bugs since it does not halt Board Development i am and i guess many are highly concerned about the software bugs and quality it provides... This could be so serious that when my CFO wanted to display his major finance report to my Managing Director, The report which had Nexel and Crossview applied to it, suddenly went blank and relatively we all too because we had no clue,
finally i had to find the root cause, redo the whole development taking hours of task which was already done and working in version 10.3... but because of the software bug of crossview in release version 10.6.0 we had to redo the whole development... Mentioned here
Along with this i posted 3 more bugs, i am not sure if they will be resolved in upcoming version and i am not sure if we will be able to continue with these continuous flaws.
I hope you will genuinely share this feed back to your developers and QA team too.
Thanks and regards,
Malav Shelat

Hello Paul Wyatt - Avison Young UK and Malav Shelat,
Thank you for providing additional details and bearing with us while we follow our internal process. As mentioned, we have escalated your feedback and I am happy to confirm that the personal follow ups will be scheduled by the end of this week.
Since this conversation diverted from the original question about the technical issues our community is experiencing (which we are addressing in the background), we are going to close this thread. I remain at your disposal so feel free to get in touch should you have any follow up questions of comments.
Kind regards,
Anastasia
