SAP BW / Board connection

Hi community

My company is going to introduce SAP and Board will likely keep data from a BW instance.

I know that SAP Connector is able to do this.

We are now investigating about costs related to this solution.

More than the costs related to:

- purchase of SAP Connector

- human resources to analyze tables and set functions on SAP side

Does someone knows if there are there any costs on SAP BW Side? such as specific licenses or fees ?

Hi Daniele Di Lorenzo,

you would--of course--need SAPs "Open Hub License" to extract data from a BW system to anything else than SAP software.

The cost of human resources needed to analyze which tables you will have to extract in what way depends--as always. Most probably you will find tables/cubes/DSOs/Dimensions created by the customer or some SAP consultant (due to the fact that SAP cannot foresee every use case). So you might have to interview the customer as well as any consultant who has been part of the SAP implementation team; digging your own way will be really time-consuming.

If you're talking about "standard" SAP BW datasources you might find help on Theobald's help page or even SAPs help.

I've done a lot of SAP BW implementations in the past, so I think I know what I'm talking about ;-)

We want to connect BW multi-cubes (virtual cubes) through SAP connector and Theobald's support told us that it is possible.

We have not experience in this way so maybe you can help us, I have a couple of questions:

1.-According the previous response one of the prerequisites to connect to a BW instance is to have a SAPs "Open Hub License" to extract data from BW system, are there other pre-requisites that we need?

2.-How much time do you consider to implement the connection to one BW multi-cube?, I mean the process to extract from Board Connector until loading into Board.
