Anyone out there who can tell me something about the update from version 9.0.4 to 10.1.4? Maybe some information about problems and their solutions, where you have to look for and what you have to do that the reports are running?
Thank you!
Hendrik
Hi Hendrik,
I'm a customer and have transitioned from BOARD 9 to BOARD 10 and can tell you that you need only carry out some minor planning as the upgrade itself is very simple. I have separate DEV, Test and Production servers. Planning will be a little more involving if you only have one server. If this is the case, you are going to want to plan for downtime or book in some overtime to test upgrade out of hours to make yourself fully happy with steps before formulating your upgrade plan to all users. Testing is easy as you can upgrade your server then downgrade it again for the next day. Also,
To upgrade, you only need to install BOARD 10.x.x to your server. Your company upgrade plan should involve a notification to users that, once server is updated, all users will be informed that, on logging on to their desktop client, they will be asked for permission for their installation to update itself - it is automatic. Also install the WEB server either on the same server or on your nominated location for use through IIS. That is it.
There are a few steps you will want to carry out before create your upgrade plan and deploy the update:
I hope that this helps. Please feel free to ask more questions and I will do what I can to answer from a customer's perspective.
Hi,
if I understood Paul Wyatt - Avison Young UK explanation corectly, he also moved from Win Client to HTML5 Client .
For a complex Project I would do this in 2 steps, first update to 10.x.y with Regression Testing (using the same Client as it is in use in older version) and do the re-testing with HTML5 in a second step (if there is the plan to migrate to html5 in the future).
So user can have the new version and there is more time for testing the new HTML5 environment
regards
Björn
Thanks Björn, you're right and yes, there should be at least 2 steps, the first being the upgrade to BOARD 10.1.4 and the second being the migration from desktop to HTML5 at a later date.
With no specifics given by the OP, I hope I gave a general insight into the technical steps and issues with upgrading from BOARD 9 to 10.
Hi Paul Wyatt - Avison Young UK,
from my point of view you gave a very good summary for an update (independet from the version numbers)
Thank you, it was very helpful!
Maybe you also should check your ODBC connections. On older Board versions you may have ODBC connections for text and csv files. These are no longer supported by Microsoft, and should be replaced by ASCII datareaders.

Hi Paul,
i have an issue on "WEB Themes".
As the first screen (Log-in screen) of Board on web using "Board theme" background for Log-in screen) if i would like to change this standard "Board" web theme, can i do this and how to do?
please advise,
Regards,
wiboon
Hi Wiboon.
Yes, you can change the BOARD theme to anything you like and the process is very simple. You need your developer licence to open a web instance in order to gain access to the THEME options. A point to note about the THEME is that the settings are global; you can only have one master theme across all web models.
I've stepped the process below to get you started. If you get any queries from this, please don't hesitate to ask.
Theme Process:
1. Ensure that you are not logged into a desktop instance with your developer licence.
2. Log into BOARD Web
3. Select your username at the top right of the screen for the dropdown menu and select [Theme]:
4. You can now change three graphical settings; Logo, Header Background picture and Home background picture:
Tip:
I wanted a white background for the company logo and so simply uploaded a white rectangle created using Cut/Copy/Paste.
Hope this helps.

Paul
