Top 5 Filter in Chart (Board 10.1.2.)

Hi Boardville,

I have some problems with a Chart I would like to create.

The chart should display costs by project and week.

I have data of around 50 projects but I only want the top 5 to be displayed.

Therefore I tried to use the Layout Filter:

Now my problem is that Board uses the filter on the X Axis which are my weeks and changes the sorting here:

However, I just want the projects to be filtered.

Any idea how I can get this done?

Thanks

Mathias

    Hi Mathias Flintrop,

could you please let us know the definition of you block "Project" you want to use for sorting? Your chart is using the dimension "Projects Prod". I would assume your block "Project" is an entity - is that set to display the projects' code or description?

Board sorts depending on a value, so your "sorting block" should represent different values.

    Kind Regards,

    Helmut

    Hi Matthias,

as for a DV the filtering/Keep top is done on the "by Row" Entity and not the by Column one. So you need to swithc both in layout and use the "switch row/col" setting of the Chart Object

    Regards

    Björn

  • Hi Björn,

I missed to say that I want to use this graph in the web version.

If I recall correctly the "Switch row/col" is not supported but I'll give it a try.

    Hi Helmut Heimann,

sorry for explaining not detailed enough.

I basically want to do the following:

I have a cube which contains cost of different projects per week, the costs are allocated to the Entity: "Project" and "Week":

    Example:

    image

So I have multiple projects but I just want the Top 5 beeing displayed:

    image

In this example I filtered by the latest week but I am also fine if the Top 5 is chosen by total expenses.

Finally I want this to be shown in a graph, which can be displayed in the web:

I can get this done in the client:

Using Switch Row/Column as Björn Reuber mentioned, but in the web I get an error:

Is this fixed in Board 11?

Thanks for your help and have a nice weekend.

    Best

    Hi Mathias,

as far as I experienced, "switch Row/Column" isn´t available yet. Neither in 10.3  and follwing 10.x versions

nor in the current BOARD 11 version.

I am also awaiting it urgently

    Best regards

Edit: I just found this topic: Switch row/column  - it might work, I think I got confused with the "is inverse" option that isn´t working yet...
