Edit Max Item Number
Hello,
I noticed that it is not always possible to edit the Max Item Number of an entity.
In which cases the max item number is locked ? Is there a way to change this behaviour ?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Ian,
you can change the Max Item Number only when the entity is not used in cubes or when the entity is used in cubes that are empty.

Hi @Ian Mercier KP,
check out our How To article you'll find additional info and a very simple (yet safe) procedure to edit an Entity Max item Number:

Hi Ian,
Yes, you won't be able to edit it while there is data in the related cubes. You can extract those cubes, clear those cubes, edit the number, and then reload the cubes.

Hi everyone,
Thank you all for your answers.
In my case, the max item number was locked because the entity was used in a 128-bit cube. Once I change the cube structure from 128-bit to 64-bit (by adding dense dimension), I was able to edit it.

Oh interesting! I have not seen that one before, Ian. Thanks for sharing!

thank you @Leone Scaburri for the detailed documentation, I came upon this situation today and it helped. The link you put in the comment shows only an image, can you put the link to the documentation please ?

Hi @Catalina ,
you'll find that in the "How-To" section of the community if you just open the Table of contents

Hi,
when you changed the structure you have actually cleared the cube ( a change in structure clear the cube automatically). That's why, once you changed the structure, you could change the max item number.
as far as I know there's no different behavior if the entity is used in a 128-bit or 64-bit sparsity.
Best,
Lorenzo
