No transfer of selections made in play mode into design mode without having been asked

Other than in the versions before, Board 14 transfers temporary selections done in the play mode automatically to design mode when switching to design mode.

This very quickly leads to the screen being saved incorrectly (with the wrong standard selection) if you are not very careful. And this results in a lot of extra work to fix it afterwards.

If I could express a wish, I would love to have the choice whether to transfer the changes made in play mode into design mode (which can make sense in certain cases) or not by beeing asked about it.

  • It would be nice indeed, I think all customers have this kind of issues now with B14, especially when you have a large number of "citizen developers" / power users.

  • fully agree, please revert back to BOARD 12 behavior.

This behavior add extra complexity for developers and power user

We've gone full circle, it was an issue in B10 desktop client* later fixed in Web and now we are back to square one 🤣

*even if we had some kind of discreet pop up

  • Wasn't just logic and native to reset the screen selection when passing from play to design mode ?

Curious to know if the complications created by this feature are compensated by a real use case, otherwise it's just a mess.

  • I think having the same selection immediately available in design mode is adding value, as you don't have to copy paste the selection from play mode in design mode if you want to test the screen with a specific selection.

I agree there should be an option to save the screen without the new selection though, regardless of the new way of carrying the selection to design mode in B14.

Standard should be saving the screen without the changed selection, with a drop down option to save it with the new selection. This would reduce the likelyhood of overwriting selections on screens, that are not reached by navigation procedures.

  • In my opinion this is really "dangerous" behaviour and indeed this is how it was in Board 10.

Especially novice developers accidentally saved the screen with the wrong selections. Do not understand why this choice is made.

If I am correct the workaround is directly when you go to edit mode press "Discard all changes". Then it resets the selections. However, still it can be confusing.

    Hello,

due to the fact, that we had both behaviors in the last years, and none of both is perfect, maybe it make sense to follow a third option (like described in B14 - Reset Selection to Screen default — Board Community) might be the best option.

Because when debugging a case it makes very often sense to switch between modes, without losing the selection. But I also understand that this might get confusing, if someone just wants to apply a "quick change" to a screen

    Regards
