Rule Configuration on Entity in a Relationship

We have a rule that consolidates P&L accounts into calculated reporting accounts (GP, SG&A, etc.) and it is configured by the lowest level of an entity relationship (child). However, we use its parent in the axes and I'm curious to know if that will break anything in the display of the rule since the manual states that the entity associated with the rule must be configured in the axes (set by row or column). Will using the parent of the entity associated with the rule in the axes skew calculations?

Furthermore, I've noticed that the rule is not working on cubes with manual data entry. We have a use case in our budgeting process to forecasts out years and I would like the rule to be applied on these cubes. I've already configured the data block with the rule but it's not calculating. In the example attached, the cubes enabled for data entry are not calculating GP with the mock data entered.

Hi @wdeer,

No, using the parent of an entity on which the rule is applied (as long as the child entity is added by row) shouldn’t cause any issues at the cell level. However, note that the parent subtotals are going to driven by the child-parent relationship, rather than the rule itself. If you plan to display both the child and parent entities with the rule applied to the child, you may want to disable down totals.
Applying a rule on a block shouldn't stop you from performing data entry, but if an active rule is applied to the same member you're entering data against, Board will display the value derived from the rule instead of what may have been entered (though the data you entered will be saved on the backend, and would show if you disabled the rule). But in your example above, if you entered data for Net Revenue and Cost of Sales rows, and there's a rule calculating Gross Profit, that should calculate once the data entry is saved (and not pending). The value you're expecting for "GP" in the "FY25 9+3 Forecast" block is 500k, correct?

Also, please confirm the Board version (XX.X) that your instance is on.
