Getting Started
Sign-in Experience: Customer & Active Partner
If you are a Customer or Active Partner logging in to the Community for the first time, there are two available 'Sign In' buttons found on the Community homepage to register your account.
Use the 'Sign In' button found in the upper right-hand corner.
Or, use the 'Customer & Partner Sign' In button found just below the carousel.
The Board Community and Board Academy are connected via a Single Sign-On (SSO) experience. Registration for the Board Community will depend on your current access and registration in the Board Academy. (Additional details about this SSO experience can be found here.)
Select your scenario below and follow the instructions to continue:
Customers and Partners:
- If you already have a Board Community account: Use your Board Community credentials to log in to both the Board Community and Board Academy.
- If you have a Board Academy account but don’t have a Board Community account: Use the "Forgot your password?" link on the sign-in page to reset your password, enabling access to both the Board Academy and Board Community.
- If you don’t have either a Board Academy or Board Community account: Use the Sign up now link on either the Board Academy or Board Community sign-in window to create a single sign-on account. It's quick and only needs to be done once.
New user to the SSO experience (scenario 3):
- After selecting the 'Sign up now' link, the first verification screen will appear. Enter your business email address, and then click the 'Send verification code' button. Please note that personal emails such as Gmail, Ymail, etc. will not be accepted.
- An email will be sent from noreply@board.com to the email address entered that contains the unique verification code to proceed.
3. Copy/paste that number in the Verification Code field, and then click the 'Verify code' button.
4. After the code is verified, click the 'Continue' button.
5. If you do not already exist in Board's customer management system, you will next be required to complete the following fields and click the 'create' button.
- This results in a completion message.
- Followed by next steps required.
- The resulting action has now established a new account in Board's customer management system—and this will take you to the experience outlined in step 6.
6. If you do already exist in Board's customer management system, you will next encounter the following screen.
All of these fields are required and the checkbox must be checked at the bottom. Note the message at the top (highlighted in green): “We have located your account. Please complete the fields below to finish the registration process.”
- After selecting 'Create', you will see:
- Once the registration completes, if registering on the Community or when going to the Community for the first time, you will land on the Sign In page one time where you must
at least provide
First and Last Names, and then click Connect to continue.
7. Final step: You will receive a welcome email that links to the platforms joined via SSO.
Sign-in Experience: Employee
If you are an employee signing in to the Community for the first time, please use this link, or click on the Community tile in Boardway to sign in.
Bookmarks, Subscriptions, and Notifications
There are two ways of staying up-to-date on all your favorite discussions and categories.
Follow a singular post or discussion by bookmarking it and visiting your personalized bookmarks found in the profile dropdown in the top right corner of the screen.
Follow a complete category, such as Best Practices, by clicking on the bell icon to subscribe to the category and selecting your notification preference.
Manage subscriptions, notifications, and communication preferences (email, in-community notifications, or both) by visiting your profile, clicking Account & Privacy Settings, and then Notification Preferences.
Profile Customization
Your profile is your place to let the rest of the Community know more about you! Upload your profile photo to earn the Photogenic badge, fill out fields such as your job title and location, even give yourself a signature to be shown alongside your posts. This is your dedicated space to let others know more about you! This is also where you can find your recent activity, such as your engagements and notifications.
To update your username please email the Community administrators at community@board.com with the new username you'd like to be displayed on your Community profile.
Search
The new and enhanced search tool is visible on every page, either by clicking on the search icon in the top right of your screen or in the search bar found in the center-top of each page. Once you enter your search term, you’ll be able to filter results via a range of options, from location of the content, to the author(s), to date last updated.
You also have the option to refine your search and sort by popular content tags, found on the homepage and category pages.
Forums and Discussions
To post a new topic in a forum or to submit a new idea in the Idea Exchange, simply click the “New Post” button. We suggest adding tags to your content as they help categorize topics and make them easier to search for and find using as Popular Tags. Use the paragraph icon to the left of the text box to format your text accordingly.
Tagging Other Members
To tag a fellow Community members, type the @ symbol directly in front of the username of the user you are trying to mention. For example, @RonSwanson. If someone has tagged your account, you will receive a notification letting you know so. Please be judicious of how often you are tagging others.
Spam
Found a comment or post you believe to be spam? Using the Flag reaction immediately lets moderators know that it should be reviewed and appropriate measures should be taken. You can also message the moderators at community@board.com.
Engagement
Make sure to provide feedback on content you enjoy, disagree with, or have more questions about by liking and commenting on it. The author of the content you’re replying to will receive a notification that you engaged with it, so it’s a quick way to let them know that you valued their work or would like to discuss it further. The more a post is liked, the higher up the “most liked” rankings it will climb.
Additionally, you can upvote ideas in the Idea Exchange to show your support for them and in order to boost their visibility for our Product team which reviews this space.
