It's often overlooked, when adding algorithms, to make sure also that it is set correctly .... as text, number, or date ... perhaps this was the problem?1 -

Found the answer myself - I hadn't realised that the 'Select' Action button on Map would respond to selections (with Ctrl key) made on the map - it does! ie hold Ctrl key and click on several bubbles…2
